In Greene County district court Richard Dean Tuhn Jr, 42, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 12 to 365 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. All but 14 days of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $315 with a $47.25 surcharge. Court costs were $136.50. James Edward Inman, 40, of Boone was sentenced Nov. 9 to two consecutive 15-year prison terms after he changed his plea to guilty to two counts of forgery. The prison time was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services (DOC) for three years. He was fined $750 with a $143.50 surcharge on each count, and he must pay $4,761 victim restitution. Court costs were $253.20. Inman was originally charged with eight counts of forgery, theft- second degree, and ongoing criminal conduct. (Sentencing: Kester)
Jimmy Dale Gibbons, 54, of Des Moines was sentenced Nov. 13 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa DOC for three years. He was fined $750 with a $112.50 surcharge; both were suspended. Christopher David Spaulding, 53, of Jefferson was sentenced Nov. 6 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense. He was sentenced to one year in jail on each of two counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs. The sentences are consecutive, but concurrent to prison time in another Greene County case. He was fined $750 with a $112.50 surcharge of the marijuana offense, and he was fined $315 with a $47.25 surcharge on each of the prescription drug offense. The fines and surcharges were all suspended. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Alejandro Perez Lazaro, 29, of Madrid was sentenced Nov. 13 to 60 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. If he serves the jail time rather than completing the DMACC program, he must complete a 12-hour impaired driver’s course. Michael Marlin Matthews, 25, of Topeka, KS, was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault on person in certain occupation. All but 10 days of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Matthews was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Jeremy William Roper, 36, of Churdan was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended. He has already completed the DMACC 48-hour education program in lieu of the jail time. He was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. Roper was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Tammy Ann Tolsdorf, 54, of Grand Junction, perjury; John Douglas Reed, 37, of Jefferson, OWI- second offense; Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 40, of Ames, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon; Shayla Nicole Stephenson, 30, of Grand Junction, driving while license revoked; and Stephen Tracy Redding, 32, of Coon Rapids, OWI- second offense. Trial dates were set for March 2, 2021, in every case.
